The event benefits Love Hope Strength Foundation – James Chippendale’s foundation. LHSF is an international, music-centric cancer charity dedicated to providing support for cancer centers, and inspiration to those affected, throughout the world. The mission is to save lives, right now, with the advances that have already been made in cancer care. We do not fund cancer research, rather we use our funds to purchase medical equipment and supplies, raise awareness through special events, documentaries and media, build cancer centers and find bone marrow donors.

Hope you enjoyed watching the MINUTEMAN trailer starring Riley Smith and Willa Ford.  We’re  thrilled to share some thoughts from Willa Ford about her experience at Comic-Con.  She co-stars in MINUTEMAN with Riley Smith.  Willa attended Comic Con to join the Dreamfly team and fellow cast members to celebrate the film’s choice as an Official Selection at the film festival.

Q & A with Actress Willa Ford

Was this your first time at Comic Con? What were your first impressions?

Yes, it was the first time I attended Comic Con. I initially walked into the convention center and saw the great costumes and realized how dedicated the Comic-Con crowd was to Super Sci-Fi.

You star in the Sci-Fi psycho thriller, MINUTEMAN, an official selection in the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival. How was the experience of being there for a screening of the film, with a live audience?

Being there for the screening of our film was amazing. I’ve done several independent films, and when you do them you are never sure where they’re going. To have MINUTEMAN chosen as an official selection at such a respected film festival…was such an honor. I so appreciate the entire experience. The audience was very appreciative and had great questions about the video game, the story and the technical process of making the film.

You took part in a panel discussion for MINUTEMAN, with other cast members, what was that like?

Sitting on the Minuteman Panel was kind of scary. But, it was fascinating to hear the questions and comments from those who had just seen the film. They really liked the film and wanted to know more about its future and the development of the partner MINUTEMAN video game.

You play Becca, Lance Deakin’s (Riley Smith) fiancé. Lance returns from a tour of duty in Iraq, and haunted by flashbacks of a hyper violent video game he played while in Iraq.  Can you share some insight into Becca, and what she was dealing with?

The interesting thing about Becca is that she never enters the Sci-Fi world, but is just trying to understand what’s going on in this Sci-Fi world of her man – as Lance is pulled deeper and deeper into the vortex of his memory.  The whole time she believes he is experiencing post trauma from the war.

We’re having a blast here in San Diego at Comic Con International Independent Film Festival! “So much fun being here at Comic Con. Got a truly wonderful response on our film MINUTEMAN.  To see the film with a live audience of fresh faces and have the story cast its spell was just terrific.  The film was such an interesting – and challenging! – process of creation.  When you’re in the throes of it, the film lives as a ton of decisions both large and small like how to design the video game or that casting question or what to do when your production schedule gets – literally – stuck in the mud??  But after all the smoke clears and an audience sits down in front of it, the film has its own life.  It was great to speak to people afterward and have them ask me what happens to these characters next?  Where I can my friends see it?  Will there be a video game?  To just see the film start a life with an audience was incredibly gratifying. Lisa Jenkins, Kim and  Chris Bonner Celebrate at last night’s award ceremony

The film festival runs simultaneously with Comic-Con International – the largest pop culture event in the world.

MINUTEMAN is scheduled to be screened on Friday, July 23 at 1:20PM.

The film revolves around Captain Lance Deakin who, after returning to civilian life as a Texas rancher, is haunted by flashbacks of MINUTEMAN, a hyper violent video game he was playing while on tour in Iraq. Exhibiting strange powers in real life, Lance is pulled deeper and deeper into the vortex of his memory, slowly realizing that the military turned him and his men into brainwashed super-soldiers to perform top secret missions. While Lance is desperately trying to piece together what happened to him, Lance’s former comrades are closing in on him and Becca, his fiance, to take them out. Lance is quickly running out of time to uncover the truth and save the woman he loves.

MINUTEMAN, the Video Game has been designed by Southern Methodist University’s Guild Hall graduate students and Longhorn Skull Productions, LLC. It is an interactive war game that shows the film’s Minuteman characters in combat action. Cutting between the video game and the movie enhances the mystery, power and adrenaline rush of the film.

Charming Gardeners Photo Shoot

Dreamfly Talent Management’s the Charming Gardeners did a recent photo shoot and we grabbed a pic of the band’s vocalist, Amy Curnow.

John David Kent and The Dumb Angels headed off to Nashville this morning for several days during CMA Fest.  They’ll be playing two shows.  The first will be Thursday night 6/11 @ 8pm at The Rutledge.  You’ll find them rockin’ at  Pick’s Bar on Saturday night at 10pm.  John says he and the band look forward to see you all!
